Greetings all. I am still alive. Expect updates and photos very soon when I emerge fully from my three year hibernation period [aka university].
I am about to put my beloved Nikon Coolpix 3200 into retirement, sob. It has been a faithful servant for over five years now and though I will never love another compact camera quite as much, it does need a successor.

I'm really not a fan of purchasing cameras or offering advice on such matters as I find the whole thing terribly confusing. The technical side of things is not my strong point.

All I know is I want something with a decent optical zoom, priced no higher than £170.

I've narrowed it down to the following two options [although will welcome any other suggestions]

So which one would you pick? The canon does look much sturdier, although I can get the Samsung for quite a bit cheaper.
